Dredging

In 2001, the Environmental "Assessorato" of the Province of Terni put out a licitation for a pilot project for the targeted removal from a specific area of Lake Pediluco of 8,900 mc of sediment polluted with heavy metals. After carrying out a batometric survey to map the lake bottom under the order of ARPA Umbria, Globeco removed the sediment using a special craft fitted with a suction mechanism designed to avoid secondary pollution during the dredging process. The sludge removed was pumped to land into decantation containers containing flocculation agents. From here it was taken to authorised dumps for final disposal.
