History

The Company was established in 1984, under the name of Ecolmare, as a branch of the Italmare Group, of the ship-owner Mariano Pane. This Group had been investing in research and development in the Environment with particular interests in marine ecology since the 70's. Ecolmare's background provided a solid base on which to found a company dealing solely with water related problems.

Ecolmare (now Globeco) quickly became a leader in the marine ecology, providing a comprehensive range of professional staff and technological equipment able to face environmental problems caused by marine pollution. Most of the Ecolmare's equipment has been specially designed "in house" and has consequently earned international patents and trademarks.

Globeco S.p.A. was founded in May 1999 as a result of a merging operation between Ecolmare and a merchant bank belonging to the Italian Ministry of Treasure, which has eventually sold its shares completely to the Pane family in 2004.
